Everyone needs a moment…

May 3rd, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

I have found myself in somewhat of a creative rut, a “slump” if you will, stressing out. The weird thing is I’ve been more active this week then I would care to remember.  Maybe I just need a rest. Maybe it’s these new vitamins but something feels off. You would think after a week of being downtown, stripping out an engine, eating at a few restaurants, etc. I’d have at least something to get the creative juices flowing. I find in times like these the best approach is to walk away!  Often stepping back and moving your focus allows what you’re looking for to present itself. I’m sure there is a technical name for that whole process; I’ll just call it the creative conga for now. Knowing when to ease off is a really hard skill to master sometimes, but like all good skills- they can be applied to more than one thing. I’m sure if more people were able to take a moment for themselves, stress would drop by an extensive amount. Now you don’t have to take my advice, but if you’re ever stuck in a rut, try taking a step back. You might be surprised.

I now leave you with the words from some men in hats:

You can dance if you want to… you can leave your friends behind…..Because your friends don’t dance, and if they don’t dance than they’re no friends of mine!

A breath of fresh air, a change of scenery… You’re absolutely right. Sometimes that’s all it takes to get your head back in the game.
